BIM in Tunnelling
In its latest recommendations the German Tunnelling Committee DAUB addresses the issue of “BIM in Tunnelling” and is thus breaking new digital ground. Standards and comprehensive best-practice solutions are still missing, but the first isolated solutions are being developed as part of pilot projects. On the basis of these "pioneering achievements", the document now published describes possible solutions and makes recommendations to the expert bodies and policymakers: What are the boundary conditions for achieving the standardisation required for the next steps in digitisation?
The German Tunnelling Committee is an independent national body of 30 proven experts from public authorities, science, planning and construction industry. The focus of this committee is on safety, sustainability and technical progress in underground construction and operation of underground facilities as well as on national and international cooperation in this field.
The ZPP board member Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ludger Speier and the BIM manager Dr.-Ing. Tobias Rahm played a decisive role in „BIM in Tunnelling – Digital Design, Building and Operation of Underground Structures". With the support of Markus Scheffer (SD Ingenieure), they were involved in the creation of the 48-page brochure in the core team of the German Tunnelling Committee DAUB and were able to contribute their planning expertise.
