Building inspection of the sickle girder (prestressed concrete girder) and stand steps

For many years now, the former Ruhrstadion is being supervised by ZPP for the City of Bochum, in the context of regular building inspections according to VDI 6200 for the sickle girders (prestressed concrete girders) and stand steps.

Within the scope of the redevelopment of the 38 prestressed concrete girders (processed from 2006-2008) of the approx. 40 year old rewirpower stadium of the VfL Bochum (formerly Ruhrstadion Bochum), as well as for the previously conducted, static examinations, a measuring system was installed in order to permanently survey all 38 girders.

Also, the stand steps were examined for a permanent burden on the standing place stands. For this, the occurring deformations during an event were measured. The measurements resulted in overstrainings of the step precast elements in partial areas. Within the scope of a static strengthening concept, the step areas were strengthened with CFK lamellae.

In the year 2012, the light bodies of the flood light poles (standing approx. 40 m high) were replaced. ZPP accompanied this measure in the field of statics. Within the scope of this replacement, the construction of the poles and the frame of the head construction were examined and reinstated.
