New construction of motorway A 52
Project and structural planning of the tunnel part between AD Essen-Ost and AK Essen-Nord
The planned motorway section of the A 52 between the A 40 in the south and the A 42 to the north will be an additional, powerful north-south connection in the central Ruhr area after its completion for the North Rhine-Westphalian motorway network. It combines the Düsseldorf area in the south with the conurbation of the northern Ruhr area.
The planning section has a total length of approx. 7400 m and includes four tunnel sections (Frillendorf 730 m, Elisabethstraße 130 m, Helenenpark 1300 m and Altenessen 1200 m) with each subsequent gallery and trough structures including the associated overbridges. It will go under the A 40, the main railway Essen-Dortmund and some residential and commercial areas. The tunnels will be created both in a cut-and-cover (2630 m) as well as in a covered, mining (approximately 730 m) construction.
The planning commission for the project planning in section 3 - civil engineering structures and in section 4 - traffic installations, as well as the specialist planning in section 1 - structural planning and in section 2 - technical equipment (incl. ventilation), each for the service phases 1 and 2 (basic evaluation and pre-planning) according to HOAI (Official Scale of Fees for Services by Architects and Engineers) was awarded by the national road construction department of North Rhine-Westphalia to the bidding consortium A52 tunnel, consisting of, in total, three partners with us as technical coordinator.
