Project planning and structural planning for the harbour expansion area south, second construction phase

The Fährhafen Sassnitz GmbH plans the erection of the southern expansion area near the berths 2 and 4.

First construction phase: Execution of the sheet pile wall operations with the means for land reclamation and the backfilling of the sheet pile wall box.

Second construction phase: The harbour expansion area south of the ferry terminal Sassnitz, which size amounts to approx. 60.000 m², is supposed to be remodelled for the transshipment and the assembly of offshore installations.

Over the course of the second construction phase, the newly erected sheet pile wall received a steel concrete head bar. The approx. 410 m long new quay is furthermore supposed to be equipped with bitts, fenders and étriers. The area shall be developed with drinking, waste and rain water in mind.

Due to the later usage being heavily based on heavy-duty traffic and high burdens (offshore storage), specific requirements for the dock backfilling need to be fulfilled with regard to the load capacity and the subsidence behaviour. For this reason, an extensive compression of the harbour expansion area is planned, in order to receive an improved ground that is more sustainable for the heavy-duty traffic and dynamic burdens.

Aside from that, the sheet pile wall that is erected in the first construction phase has to be tested in order to verify itself with regard to the new burden situations.

ZPP INGENIEURE was commissioned with the project planning in section 3 - civil engineering structures and in section 4 - traffic installations for the service phases 1-7 (basic evaluation, pre-planning, draft planning, approval planning, execution planning, preparation of the contract awarding, participating in the contract awarding process) according to HOAI (Official Scale of Fees for Services by Architects and Engineers).
We also were commissioned with the specialist planning in section 1 - structural planning for the service phases 1-6 (basic evaluation, pre-planning, draft planning, approval planning, execution planning and preparation of the contract awarding) according to HOAI.
