Power Plant Emden

Retrofit planning for the wharfage

The power plant site Emden is maintained by Statkraft since the beginning of 2009, after being established in the 1950s.

In 2004, a biomass heat power plant, generating current from biomass, was activated in 2004 on site. The unloading of the ships took place in the wood loading pier, situated at the south side of the barge basin.

The approx. 280 m long wharf age runs from the west to the east of the power plant terrain, sporting a width of approx. 12 m. Due to a modified utilisation concept, as well as the increasingly deteriorating condition of the wharf age built in 1955, ZPP INGENIEURE devised a retrofit concept in order to ensure the utilisation preservation of the wharf age for the next 10 years.

Part of our services was the project planning in section 3 – civil engineering structures for the service phase 6 (preparation of the contract awarding) and the structural planning in section 1 – structural planning for the service phases 3-6 (draft planning, approval planning, execution planning, preparation of the contract awarding) according to HOAI (Official Scale of Fees for Services by Architects and Engineers).
Furthermore, we were active in the framework of construction supervision, as well as a consulting party for the client. We also were commissioned with the inventory, appraisal of damage and variety survey.
